What is the difference between a float switch and a continuous level sensor?
A float switch normally changes state when liquid reaches a set point, making it suitable for high-level, low-level, pump or alarm control. A continuous level sensor measures the changing level across a range and provides an output that can be displayed or used by a control system.
Should I choose a vertical or horizontal float switch?
A vertical float switch is normally installed through the top or bottom of a tank, while a horizontal float switch is fitted through the tank wall. The best option depends on available access, the required switching position, internal space and whether the mounting can be installed and maintained safely.
Which float switch material is suitable for my liquid?
The wetted material must be compatible with the liquid, its concentration and the operating temperature. Deeter offers products in materials including nylon, PVC, PPS, polypropylene, acetal and 316L stainless steel. The correct material should be confirmed for the complete process conditions rather than selected from the liquid name alone.
Do I need a single-point, multi-point or continuous level sensor?
Choose a single-point switch when one liquid level needs to trigger an action. A multi-point switch can provide several switching levels through one tank entry, while a continuous sensor is better where the level must be monitored throughout the tank. The control system and required output should also be considered.
Can Deeter customise a float switch or liquid level sensor?
